Layout using free basic borders

This is another layout for my Thailand album. The woven borders are created using the smaller zig-zag from the free basic borders that I created. The idea for these borders came from a lady called Donna Bobbie who unfortunately passed away several years ago. Thankfully for all of us her incredible talent has been preserved in a whole heap of .pdf's and handouts.

flowers and swirls bundle : layout

One of the free activities that our hotel organised while we were in Thailand was to dress the children in traditional Thai costume. I love these photos of my daughter and thought the "Flowers and Swirls Bundle" provided the perfect accents for these pages.

HOME away from HOME : layout

This is the layout I created the "HOME away from HOME" file for. The file obviously has alot more uses but this is what I did.

HOME away from HOME

I made this file to go on a page all about our hotel room whilst on holiday. I've included the word "sweet" as well in case anyone wants to make a HOME sweet HOME page :-). This file could also be used for photo's of your caravan, lake cabin, holiday house etc. I think the little cabin would also be a nice addition to photos of you new home, the kids cubby house or simply children playing house.

This will be the last file before Christmas but I will share my layout that I made before Christmas for those who like looking at my layouts.

3D flower ball / ornament

I made this gorgeous ball as a fun paper crafting project. I got the original instructions off the kaiser craft web site but seeing as I can't link to them from here I've written a .pdf with photos that you can all download if you want to give it a try.

The ball is made up of 12 origami flowers. You could make the flowers as a separate project and just add a stem to make a vase full or they would be great as a present topper or as an addition to an altered project. What a great way to use up your scrap bits of paper or to entertain the tween girls over the holidays.

Christmas is coming

Hi all, Christmas is fast approaching and although I'm not going anywhere I thought I should let you all know that I won't be posting as much over the next few weeks. There is simply too much to do and not enough time to do it all. I will still post but it will probably be only once or twice a week.

Sliding into Fun : Layout

This is the layout that I created using the "Sliding into Fun" title. The photos are of my children sliding down the water slide into the kids club pool when we were on holiday. If anyone bothers to read the journalling you will see that I accidentally left out my sons name. I have corrected that now but can't be bothered taking another photo. I hope you like :-)

Sliding into Fun

I made this file to go with some photos of my kids sliding into the pool on a slippery slide. It could basically be used for any page featuring water and sliding :-). I've also included the paper piecing separate from the title for those that want to use different wording.

Pool Side : layout

Here is the layout that I've created with elements from the "Pool Side Bundle". The layout is of the pools that were at our hotel when we were in Thailand earlier this year. I've flipped / mirrored the lemonade file so that it would sit well under the cocktail glass.

Thankyou

The sale is over and I hope all those who wanted a bargain got one. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support, I'm still a little amazed when anyone wants to buy my files because honestly I make them for myself and my own albums. I've been selling my files for over a year now and although sometimes I feel pressured to create something new, most of the time its just pure fun :-)

With one year down I've got some plans for the next year.

I've had a lady (Karon) approach me about being part of a creative team. I had a look at Karon's work and she creates lovely pages with my files. Her style is quite different to mine so I thought her pages will show everyone a completely different way of using the same files, which should be inspirational to all. If this goes well I will definitely consider having a few more people as part of the team. If this is the way I decide to go you will read it here first.

I plan on sharing some more free basic files. I have some basic borders made which will appear in the next couple of weeks. I strongly believe that no one should ever have to pay for basic files. If you have some ideas of what basic files you would like to see available let me know by either posting a comment or emailing me. Some of these free files will be posted here and some will be attached to the That's Scrap newsletter so if you haven't signed up for the newsletter make sure you do.

Once again thanyou for your support and hopefully we can have another year full of files and other creative ideas.

Regards Joanne

Teachers Gift

I thought I would share this today as well. I've made 2 of these for my daughters school teacher. If you look closely you will see that I've cut the trees from my Christmas Ornaments file and adhered them around the bottom. Just another idea on how you could use these files.

The jar is a maccona coffee jar and the papers are by Kaiser craft

Christmas Ornaments

I'm just taking a break from the pool side files for a couple of days because I thought I would share these files because they will be on That's Scrap Inc before the pool files.

I made theses files because I wanted to make some of my own Christmas decorations this year. Because I cant cut chipboard I have cut several layers in cardstock and glued them together to make them sturdier. I also flipped the file to make a backing for the ornaments which also allowed me to encase the string. These files could also be used to make beautiful Christmas cards.

Cocktail

Now while the kids were happy sipping their lemonade by the pool (or at the swim up bar) mum was drinking something a little stronger. What can I say, the sun was out, the kids were having fun and it was cheaper to buy cocktails than a glass of wine. This file will be available separately or as part of a "Pool Side Bundle" This file would also make a ice addition to pages featuring a cocktail party or even invitations to an grown ups party.

Lemonade

This is the first file I've made for a "Pool Side Bundle". When we were in Thailand we had 4 pools at the resort to choose from and seeing as my children are quite young we spent several hours a day lazing by the pool. Part of the pool side experience is lazing on the lounges and getting served drinks. I made this lemonade to represent what the kids were drinking because if I'm honest I was drinking something a little stronger (cocktail file is coming lol). This file could also be used with photos of a lemon tree, lemon harvest or a traditional lemonade stand. It could also be used on summer pages with a title like "cooling off" or "beating the summer heat"

Stuff I've done / made

Before I start sharing the files I've made for my next bundle I thought I would share some of the other stuff I've been making. Firstly some layouts I've made using some of my older files.

This page uses my "Toothfairy" file that I made in 2007.

These pages are of my daughter at a scouts adventure day and I've used my "Scouting Fun" title.

As well as completing some layouts I've also been doing some altered projects. This is a Kaiser Craft advent calendar that I made for my children so that they can count down to Christmas without eating too many sweets.

This is another Kaiser project that will being hanging on my front door this year. I decided to break away from the traditional wreath and do something a little bit different this year.

Christmas Card File

I made this card file to be a freebie attached to the That's Scrap Inc newsletter. If you want this file make sure you pop over to That's Scrap Inc and subscribe to the newsletter. I wanted this file to be pretty enough to use as is but also adaptable enough that it could easily be embellished to make something truley beautiful.

A Family Tradition Title

Its that time of year when all the holidays are upon us and each family seems to have its own annual traditions. It doesn't matter if its the traditional family feast, how you hang the decorations or something as simple as Friday night Fish & Chips family traditions are what make memories and should definitely be scrapped.

5 star accommodations, 5 star service

This is a layout I did using various photo's from around the resort we stayed in whilst in Thailand. I haven't included any photos of the pools or our room because they will be separate layouts. I've used the stars from my Decoratice Stars files and this layout was actually the reason i decided to make the stars in the first place.

Simple title ideas using stars

Here are some simple ideas on how you could incorporate the decorative stars into a title for your scrapbook pages. I will try and cut my title tomorrow so I can complete my pages and share them with you. I am also making a Christmas card with this file which I will also share.

Christmas door hanger

This is the first thing I've made using the Decorative Stars files. I made this as a gift for a friend and I will be giving it to her tomorrow and I hope she likes it. Because I have a craft robo and can't cut chipboard I cut the stars in cardstock 8 times and then glued them together to make them sturdier.

Decorative Stars

I've made these stars because I want to do a page on our hotel in Thailand and I itntend the title to be "5 star accomodations, 5 star service". When i had finished cutting these stars it also occured to me that they would be great for Christmas projects. As the week goes on I will show you lots of ideas for titles and projects using these stars.

Tee-ball layout

This is the layout I've made with the baseball bits and pieces that I've posted lately. I'm still using old CM pages so the width isn't quite 12 inches so rather than re cut the bat Ive just trimmed a bit off it. I didn't have many photo's to scrap so I've squished into into a single page but you could easily stretch the elements over a double page spread. Baseball Bundle

Baseball Mitt and Bat

I've made the baseball accessories to go with the titles I posted on Monday. The baseball bat is 12 inches long so would make a great border or page divider or simply resize it for a smaller embellishment. These paper piecings will be available separately or as a bundle with the titles.

Fonts and things

I've had a few customers email me recently asking which font I've used to make a title so they can make accompanying words etc. Now the truth is that I have so many fonts that I can't remember which one I used for most of my titles. In my opinion you are better off going for a completely different font to make accompanying words because I think its more effective. Below I've made a couple of screen shots of the title I posted yesterday with some extra words in a different font. For these I have just grabbed the first font I came across and made some simple welded words to personalise the title for a couple of different needs.

Baseball Titles

Earlier this year my 7yr old daughter started playing Tee-ball as an after school activity. Like a good scrapbooker I went along to training and took photos so I needed a title to go with them. While I was making a tee-ball title I thought I might as well make the words "soft" and "base" to go with it so it was more versatile. These titles are BIG and stretch the full way across a 12 x12 page. They could be cut smaller but if you chose to do this I would suggest that you didn't cut the red stitching on the balls but instead drew them in. I have also made some paper piecings to with these titles which I will post later in the week.

Free Scalloped Square File

I thought I would end the week with another freebie :-). This is the scalloped square to go with the scalloped circle I posted a couple of weeks ago. This file comes in AI, GSD, KNK, SVG & WPC cutting formats and is available HERE. I've made this file in various sizes so it could be used for scrap booking or card making, if you own a 12 inch cutter expand the size and use it to scallop a whole page. Happy cutting
